The wife and I took out Friday, 29Sep2017, with weather not perfect. With windshield wipers going, we navigated the roads of San Antonio though the gridlock of north side and made our way to Hwy 281. After getting past Hwy 46 our traffic issues dissipated and we started to good time. Even though the wipers were still in use, we enjoyed the sights we passed. Lunch found us in Blanco, Texas. Hopping off the highway, we found a Bar B Que place on 4th street. It was called "Old 300 BBQ."

Meal was very good. Yes, I would return for some more. Brenda had a Turkey sandwich and I had a Pork sandwich. The spicy BBQ sauce was really good.

Dodged some more rain drops and headed out to Marble Falls, Texas.

We pulled into the Hampton Inn a little after three o'clock. Nothing fancy but it is on the edge of Lake Marble Falls. That in itself was really nice. We did the tourist thing. Went to the downtown section and walked around looking at the pretty things and found a little shop that served Fudge and Root Beer Floats. I had to get the float and, no, it did not ruin dinner. That was a good thing because Brenda found this little restaurant with big New Orleans taste. We shared the special ..."Shrimp Feast –  15 shrimp ( grilled, fried, coconut shrimp, shrimp Shanice and Shrimp Creole) served with a vegetable for $18.99." We opted out for additional grilled in lieu of the coconut shrimp. Brenda decided to get desert but I had no room. We both gave two thumbs up for the The Real New Orleans Style Restaurant in Marble Falls, Texas.

The next day we left Marble Falls and drove up to Buchanan Lake and took the cruise up the river to where the river ends and the lake begins. We were too early to catch the eagles but did see one osprey and a number of other birds and ducks.
The trip lasted about two hours and we opted to have the box lunch on board. That held us over until we got to Richardson, Texas later in the day. The weather was really nice and we had a nice time listening to the guide explain different aspects of the lake and the surrounding country.
If I go again, I will want to go in November or December so I can see the eagles. Regardless of the time of year (except for freezing cold and rainy weather) I would take the tour again.
