Wunderlust For Sights in Colorado
Our trip was completed on 08June2024. In my upcoming posts I will describe the places visited and post some pictures. The above picture was taken at Independence Pass on 03June2024. This was the start of our wonderful but brief trek viewing the beauty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
"Independence Pass, originally known as Hunter Pass, is a high mountain pass in central Colorado, United States. It is at elevation 12,095 ft on the Continental Divide in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. The pass is midway between Aspen and Twin Lakes, on the border between Pitkin and Lake counties." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_Pass_(Colorado))
We based our daily treks out of Breckenridge Colorado. With that said I did a Google search for "breckenridge co elevation" and the following was returned: "The town of Breckenridge, Colorado sits at 9,600 feet above sea level, and the Breckenridge Ski Resort's summit elevation reaches 12,998 feet, creating an unforgettable high alpine climate with low humidity and year-round sunshine." I will vouch for climate and sunshine because we were blessed with beautiful weather our entire stay. It was only when were returning home the weather turned on us.
I searched online for a bit of history on the town and I discovered the following: "Founded during the Gold Rush of the mid-1800s, Breckenridge has retained its pioneer, mining-town feel while playing up its enviable natural beauty and adventure-oriented activities. (https://www.visittheusa.com/destination/breckenridge)
The town was a grand place to stretch one's legs on the many trails and, then, the shops and restaurants. On our first day in town, we stopped in the "Breckenridge Ale House and Pizza" for refreshing drinks and pizza. Our pizza was delicious, the service was great and I would recommend them to anyone.
Please come back to see how our experience unfolded.
